The scholarship was initially created to help promote the ideals of the CJ Liegel Foundation. Which the foundation has identified:
To encourage team members to facilitate an energetic team environment and enrich the experience of his/her teammates through the promotion of positive competition and courageous spirit, while maintaining high standards of sportsmanship.
The scholarship is currently valued at $500, however the foundation committee has the discretion to increase this amount if future funds permit.
The Scholarship Award is available to male student athletes who participate in the Rutgers University Cheer Program.
